2FA (Two factor authentication)
Two-factor authentication can be applied to top layer Operators and Project admins & members.
Email authentication will be required with each login to the manager.
Setting up 2FA
The hierarchy of 2FA setup is very simple. Nevron superadmins can enable/disable 2FA for operators or projects, while operator superadmins can enable/disable it only for projects. Below, the exact process is described:
Enabling 2FA for operators
Nevron superadmin creates a new operator. The process remains as it is however, in the second step (Activate modules) in the section System settings, a new check-box is added “Two-factor authentication (2FA)“. Per default, this check-box is unchecked like the rest of them. If Nevron superadmin checks this box, then all the Operator superadmins have 2FA enabled.
Enabling 2FA for projects
Both a Nevron superadmin and an operator have the ability to enable/disable 2FA only on projects. In the second step of creating a new project (Activate modules), in the section System settings, the “Two-factor authentication (2FA)“ check-box is added. Per default, this check-box is unchecked unlike the rest of them. When the operator checks this box, all the admins and members of the project have 2FA activated.
If the operator would like to enable/disable the feature once the project is already created, they can simply edit it by selecting the edit icon.
Using 2FA
When 2FA is active, the user login process is different. The login page remains the same. After the users insert their login credentials, a new 2FA page is displayed. At the same time a unique time-limited code is sent to the users email.
