Scope of work for the IPTV upgrade
To ensure a smooth transition during the upgrade, we kindly request that you carefully review the scope of work outlined below and devise an action plan on your end to facilitate the process effectively. Your collaboration is greatly appreciated in achieving the best possible outcome for this upgrade.
Scope of Work:
Preparation Phase:
Hardware assessment and compatibility check:
Nevron will conduct an assessment of all currently utilized hardware to determine its compatibility with the new version.
Server reinstallation strategy:
Nevron will evaluate and recommend the optimal approach for the server reinstallation.
Client notification and guidance:
Nevron will inform the client, providing detailed instructions for the local IT team regarding the upgrade process. Local IT needs to provide the equipment needed (USB, external drive, monitor and keyboard for the server connection).
Data backup creation:
Nevron will create a comprehensive backup of all necessary data and store it on the /root/Backup. (database, Configuration files on the server and stbs, client’s content)
Backup distribution:
Nevron will duplicate the backup, storing copies both in the office and on an external disk provided by the client.
External hard drive preparation:
Local IT will prepare an external hard drive with a minimum capacity of 4TB. The /data folder size can be checked for adequate space.
Backup transfer:
Nevron will transfer the backup to the designated external hard drive provided by the local IT team.
Rocky OS installation:
Local IT will prepare the Rocky OS on their USB key (min 64 GB- around 5€) as per provided instructions here. (How to install Rocky Linux )
Confirmation of installation date:
Local IT will coordinate and confirm the installation date with Nevron to ensure mutual readiness.
Installation Day:
Downtime can be min 2h if everything goes smoothly.
Server reinstallation:
IT will do the server reinstallation process on the scheduled day and time, ensuring a stable internet connection to the server. Expected duration: 30 min - 1 hour, depends on internet speed.
Access provisioning:
Upon successful reinstallation, Nevron will provide the DW code to gain access to the server.
IPTV software Installation:
Nevron will proceed with the installation of the IPTV software. Expected duration: up to 1 hour (Dependent on internet speed).
Data restoration:
Local IT will connect the USB containing the backup, and data will be restored to the server. Expected duration: Database and images can be 15 min, other videos could take longer.
STB updates:
All Set-Top Boxes (STBs) will be updated remotely. Please, if possible, connect all spare boxes to the server.
Configuration restoration:
Previous configurations, including PMS, rover, and manager translations, will be reinstated.
Final Checkup:
STB verification:
Nevron will conduct a thorough check of all STBs, ensuring consistency in numbers pre- and post-upgrade, verifying remote configurations, and confirming updates.
Functional testing:
Local IT will perform functionality tests on selected STBs to ensure they are operating as intended.
Completion confirmation:
The upgrade process will be deemed complete upon Nevron's fulfilment of tasks and successful testing by IT, confirming task success.
